I'll make this simple. To quote a long used analogy, hey GQP "If the shoe fits, wear it."

Each day that goes by brings more devastation to the basic human rights. Everything that's been fought for so valiantly in the years past (voting and abortion are just a couple of examples). I agree with your analogy of how the Republicans have become so extreme to the right that their views have taken on the Taliban mindset. Anytime the U.S. Attorney General states that those who seek abortion will be protected under federal law says a lot about how dire today's world has become. It saddens me as well as those who believe in the decency of our God given rights as humans.

With all due respect to Dr Freeman, it is calling things as we see them that is important in our troubled times. Avoiding certain semantics is a leftward problem we have had for a while now and the Republican extremist as represented by TFG has filled that breech with our society. Honestly, does it not feel to many of us now like the right has gotten some kind of leg up on the rest of us? While we were concerned with politeness, manners, logic, and policy, the MAGA crowd and its leadership has turned to culture war, evangelistic overreach, political mudslinging devolved to rock throwing, filling federal judgeships, gerrymandering the bejesus out of unsuspecting voting districts, passing laws to insure minority rule uber alles, even passing laws (Wisconsin) to limit the Democratic governor's legislative ability. In our urge to be kind and proper, we have passively permitted fascism and authoritarianism to creep into our daily lives and our future. It is time for the pot to call the kettle black and draw the line...here and no further.

I love how you, all though you didn't agree with Dr Freeman, you still respected her views without calling her names

Ok, I like how you wrote this and what you've included. I'm a bit hesitant to subscribe because I read a lot already. I follow a broad spectrum of topics. Also, with few exceptions (this newsletter is an exception), the topic in video or article/blog/newsletter is a day+ later than my acquaintance to the topic. I have a daily scan, and the vast majority must be a new topic. I gave up on the Majority Report and David Packman because the topics are consistently days behind. That holds for most.

Jesse, I see you're not content to be a day behind, rather, in the day.

Another part of who I am is a very angry and cynical Democrat from Minnesota. Observe what that means. Rejecting Reagan twice! Though horrifically Ventura became governor! Libertarians are as bad as the GOP for lying about what government is for and how it's paid.

I despise everything GOP and have for over 4 decades. Former Republicans have something to prove to me. You're doing a good job. Especially doubling down on the Qult aka American Taliban!

Dr Freeman is 100% wrong! And YOU are correct to compare Republicans' destructive, white supremacy-adjacent behaviors with how the Taliban or hardline 1930s-style Fascist regimes operated.

For example:- GOP Nation-wide Voter Suppression campaigns, Senate Republicans' total OBSTRUCTION & sabotage of policies that could improve lives of workers & the public health, during a pandemic; constant LYING on a massive scale...

Republicans & Fox News using Goebbel's-style propaganda tactics to deny that January 6th was a violent Insurrection, despite it being witnessed world-wide LIVE ON TV. And despite 140+ police officers being brutally beaten & injured...

Brazen Anti-semitism, by trivialising the Holocaust & Slavery, book-burnings & banning of topics NOT even taught in Schools...

Inciting racism, gun violence & a sense of VICTIMHOOD among Trump cult worshippers...

Negligent, possibly malicious Covid-spreading via Anti-vaxx Anti-mask aggression & death threats at school board meetings, towards Election workers, or anyone who disagrees with Trump...

ALL of the above, is Fascist-like behavior from Trump worshipping Republicans - As if they studied a few videos on, "The Rise of the Nazis, from c.1933" - And, Trump cultists decided to copy their heinous example, in plain sight!

This comparison has been made before and perhaps most eloquently by Jeff Daniels' character on the TV series, The Newsroom about six years ago. It is exponentially more true now, so unfortunately you are precisely correct in your comparison. Here is the clip. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4WVn2ubwIVM
